Complete Surrender is a short documentary film that explores love and why five artists have turned to two female medieval mystics, Marguerite Porete and Hadewijch, finding in them kindred voices that help them express contemporary concerns, particularly around the issue of love. The film follows five artists: Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven, an installation artist, Wim Henderickx, a composer, Aline Kiner, an author, An Pierlé, a pianist/singer-song writer, and Hendrik Vanden Abeele, a classically trained pianist, singer and leader of the vocal ensemble Psallentes, as they recount their engagement with these mystics on love and desire. Directors Pol Herrmann and Louise Nelstrop will attend the screening.
